SDGs

Ever since HOEI was founded, we have been striving to “Keep the Blue Earth” and improve our technology to use our limited resources effectively.
We can say that we have been practicing SDGs for a long time.

HOEI’s current initiatives for each SDGs goal are introduced below.

What are SDGs?

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 goals.

Our Business Department has been telecommuting.
We strive to create a comfortable environment at our facilities.

We are improving our business duties with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The HOEI Technology Center is constantly developing new products and new technologies.

We are promoting the establishment of a fair personnel system.

We have enacted a Business Continuation Plan (BCP) in the company to minimize damage in a disaster. We also cooperate with the community residents living near our plants.

HOEI has various recycling technologies for ferrous and non-ferrous metals that we are responsible for using. Our vacuum heating system recovers zinc of high purity and iron from galvanized steel sheets. We even use cutting scraps when refining molten aluminum and ingots to ensure that no resource material is wasted. Non-standard iron scraps are also processed and reused.

Carbon dioxide emissions are said to have a significant impact on climate change. HOEI has implemented low-energy equipment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions at our facilities. As for aluminum ingots, we have increased the waste heat recovery rate of our customers’ tower melting furnaces, contributing to improved energy efficiency. In other areas, we have introduced PHVs for our sales vehicles and battery-powered forklifts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions during travel. In addition, all of our plants have acquired ISO 14001 certification.

As concerns of marine contamination by plastics rise, HOEI CHEMICAL, our group company, has started collecting plastic waste from industrial waste and using it as a raw material to manufacture IPB, a fueling agent. This technology was awarded the Bronze Award of the 2021 Aichi Environmental Award.
